Description: This senior-focused CORE formula pairs Wellness's high-protein, grain-free approach with added glucosamine and chondroitin, common joint-supportive nutrients included specifically to address the increased arthritis and mobility concerns that come with canine aging. Calorie density is generally adjusted for the slower metabolism and reduced activity typical of senior dogs, helping manage weight at a life stage where extra pounds place disproportionately more stress on already-aging joints. As with other grain-free options in this batch, it's worth noting this formula falls within the ingredient category the FDA continues to study for a possible link to canine DCM — a discussion particularly relevant for senior dogs, since age-related cardiac changes are already more common in older dogs generally, making periodic cardiac screening as part of routine senior wellness visits a reasonable precaution regardless of diet choice. Any new mobility changes, stiffness, or reluctance to engage in previously normal activity in a senior dog warrants a veterinary evaluation to determine whether additional joint support, pain management, or other intervention is needed beyond diet alone.
